We believe that increasing demand for recycled LDPE can motivate more companies and consumers to participate in recycling, thereby reducing plastic solid waste at the source and cutting the need for virgin LDPE.
Recycled LDPE comes from two main sources:
-
Post-consumer recycled LDPE: typically sourced from used wasted plastic bags.
-
Pre-consumer recycled LDPE: mainly generated from start-up scrap and production waste collected within plastic-bag and plastics manufacturing plants. Lok Mei has collected all plastic wastes from production line and recycle them.
LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene), plastic number 4, is one of the most widely used plastics globally. Due to its high toughness, strong ductility, soft texture, high transparency, odorless and tasteless properties, ease of processing, and low cost, its annual production reaches tens of millions of tons. However, plastic bags are now found in forests, streams, and oceans, posing a danger of accidental ingestion and entanglement for wild animals.
Challenges of Recycling and Regenerated Materials
1. The low cost of disposable LDPE results in low value for recycled plastic bags, reducing the willingness of many manufacturers to recycle. We are trying to reserve reasonable profit to the recycled LDPE suppliers. To foster industry growth, we ensure raw material suppliers retain fair profits, maintain close communication, and prioritize partnerships with reliable suppliers.
2. High recycling costs: discarded plastic bags need to be sorted, washed, and dried before recycling. In other word, the cost of recycled LDPE polybag is higher than the traditional one.
3. Inconsistent quality: The quality of the recycling process directly affects the quality of recycled materials. For example, stickers and printing inks on the plastic bags can affect the quality of the recycled materials. We always select the reliable material suppliers and spend extra effort to check quality of raw material and finished product.
